Financial Crime Prevention Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Crime Prevention Specialist to join our team in Southampton, United Kingdom. As a key member of our compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our financial systems and preventing financial crime.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate allegations of financial crime, including money laundering, sanctions, and external and internal fraud.
- Review suspicious activity reports and determine whether a report should be made to the Financial Intelligence Unit.
- Screen matches referred from the 1LOD financial crime specialists for Politically Exposed Persons, Sanctions, and adverse media.
- Communicate with potential victims of fraud to establish circumstances and additional information.
- Liaise with law enforcement, government bodies, and other relevant external parties in relation to financial crime activities.
- Process external information requests and enquiries related to fraud issues.
- Assist with financial crime reporting and data as required by the Group Head of Financial Crime Investigations.
- Assist with the management of the Financial Crime Investigations Mailbox.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Identify opportunities for improvement to financial crime prevention practices and investigation processes.
- Embed a positive culture of confident and proactive customer considerations.
- Build and maintain relationships with other colleagues in the industry.
- Attend periodic industry forums on financial crime-related topics.
- Experience in a financial crime prevention role.
- Understanding of the requirements of FCA/HMT regulations and guidance relating to financial crime.
- Expertise in AML Regulation and guidance from JMLSG and jurisdictional risk relating to financial crime.
- Excellent written communication skills, using appropriate grammar, style, and language.
- Technical knowledge appropriate to the role, including relevant computer systems.
- Understanding and application of current regulatory obligations and procedures to achieve compliance.
