Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Structures Design Lead to join our team at Ringway Jacobs. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the analysis and design of bridge and retaining wall structures in reinforced concrete and steel.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide technical analysis expertise and experience-based leadership within a small design team. You will work closely with our team to develop junior staff and maintain high standards in your own work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, design, plan, and programme highway structures works and services
  • Provide clear and effective project leadership
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services
  • Mentor junior staff in the delivery of structural design and development of highway structures schemes
  • Check other team members' work
  • Provide assistance to the team leader in relation to all aspects covered within the group and deputise in their absence
  • Assist in budgetary control and ensure that financial management is undertaken throughout areas of responsibility

Requirements

  • Design expertise with Eurocodes and modern standards, DMRB
  • Working knowledge of preparation of contract specifications, use of MCHW
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Highway Legislation, relevant structures design procedures, standards, and good practice
  • Knowledge and experience of budgetary governance, management, and control measures
  • Knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
