Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our client's small Environment, Health, and Safety team in a Laboratory Support role. This position will provide assistance to the various teams of Scientists across various locations at the Oxford Science Park Harwell Campus, Didcot (OX11).

The main responsibility is to ensure a clean, waste-free, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to established procedures and conducting risk and manual handling assessments.

This role is based at the Oxford Science Park and will involve regular collaboration with logistics and facilities teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Removing solid and liquid waste from laboratory areas
  • Maintaining cleanliness in laboratory suites
  • Organizing and managing external waste storage areas
  • Overseeing the external laboratory coat laundry system
  • Handling electronic waste, returns, and recycling
  • Transporting materials between sites in Oxford and Harwell (OX11)
Requirements:
  • Direct experience in a similar role is preferred, although comprehensive training will be provided
  • Experience with manual handling
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities
  • A keen desire to learn and develop in the role
  • A full driving license and confidence in driving a small van on busy A-roads

This is a temporary role to begin with but provides excellent prospects to become permanent in 2025 and develop into an EHS Technician role over time, so there is a genuine potential for a great career path with a really good company on offer here.
