About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled consultant to support and further develop our laboratory haematology services at the John Radcliffe Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to providing a first-class, modern integrated laboratory haematology service and high-quality blood transfusion service.

You will work closely with our laboratory and transfusion consultants, developing and delivering clinical governance and best practice across our services. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the effective delivery of our laboratory haematology services, including routine blood film and bone marrow morphology, supervision of registrars, and liaison across primary and secondary care.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess relevant qualifications, including membership or fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists. You must also have full specialist registration with the GMC and hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award by date of interview.

Your experience in laboratory haematology, flow cytometry, and ability to work independently and take accountability for your actions will be highly valued. Excellent written communication skills, teamwork, and leadership abilities are also essential. If you have a PhD/MD with a focus on laboratory haematology, immunophenotyping, or molecular haematology, this is a definite asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to laboratory aspects of registrar training in laboratory haematology.
  • Provide routine laboratory support for training doctors on a rotational basis.
  • Liaise with clinical teams to ensure best transfusion practice across OUH.
  • Support and further develop the Oxford haematology diagnostic laboratory.
Compensation Package

The salary for this position is approximately £104,212 - £155,000 per annum, depending on experience.
