Night Shelter Support Worker

Job Summary:
We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team as Overnight Project Workers, providing a vital nightly service for our guests at Glass Door Night shelters. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a friendly and supportive environment, cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and volunteers.
- Diffuse difficult situations and summon assistance when necessary.
- Write regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.
- Carry out regular checks around the shelter and ensure the van is loaded correctly.
- Adhere to Glass Door's operational and health & safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and maintain clear lines of communication.
- Undertake any other duties to aid the good running of the project.
- Accurately report observations, interactions, and concerns with guests to their caseworker.
- Set up and serve a simple breakfast for guests in the morning.
- Ensure all guests leave the building by 7am.
Person Specification:
- Commitment to providing an excellent service and interacting with shelter guests in a positive and respectful manner.
- Ability to work as part of a team and be a supportive team member.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to carry out manual handling tasks.
- Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people.
- Ability to speak additional languages.
- Lived experience of homelessness.
- Understanding and value of trauma-informed care.
Working Hours:
Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7:15am, with additional time if allocated driver. Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.
