Job Title: Overnight Project Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team as Overnight Project Workers, providing a vital nightly service for our guests at Glass Door Night shelters. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a friendly and supportive environment, cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and volunteers.
  • Diffuse difficult situations and summon assistance when necessary.
  • Write regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.
  • Carry out regular checks around the shelter and ensure the van is loaded correctly.
  • Adhere to Glass Door's operational and health & safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and maintain clear lines of communication.
  • Undertake any other duties to aid the good running of the project.
  • Accurately report observations, interactions, and concerns with guests to their caseworker.
  • Set up and serve a simple breakfast for guests in the morning.
  • Ensure all guests leave the building by 7am.

Person Specification:

  • Commitment to providing an excellent service and interacting with shelter guests in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be a supportive team member.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people.
  • Ability to speak additional languages.
  • Lived experience of homelessness.
  • Understanding and value of trauma-informed care.

Working Hours:

Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7:15am, with additional time if allocated driver. Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.
