About the Role

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a pioneering technology company to recruit a Mechanical Package Engineer for their expanding team. This is a permanent position that requires a mid-level to senior mechanical engineer with a minimum of five years of experience in the process industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the design, specification, and procurement of process equipment packages for the production of renewable gases.
  • Ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of process systems by specifying components such as pumps, compressors, valves, and pressure vessels.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including datasheets and specifications, to support proposals, FEED, detailed engineering, and prototype test rigs.
  • Interact with project teams, procurement, compliance, quality, and other engineering disciplines internally, and with clients, vendors, and suppliers externally.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in handling packages like chemical process packages, cooling towers, water treatment packages, material handling system equipment, and compressor packages.
  • Competence with industry standards, including ability to carry out calculations to BS, EN, ISO, ASME, API, etc.
  • Good understanding of ATEX directives, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and Machinery Directive.
  • Ability to review supplier documentation, interpret mill certificates, and product certifications.
  • Solid experience in design, selection, and specification of process system equipment, including pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework, valves, and fittings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of material selection for industrial applications and ability to evaluate parts and processes for cost, efficiency, and reliability improvements.
  • Knowledge of Risk Analysis tools, such as FMEA and DFMEA.
  • Understanding of safety, compliance, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Availability to travel internationally to site and vendors' workshops.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Working experience in the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, or industrial gases process plants industry.
  • Chartered (CEng) status with a relevant industry body.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks.
  • Ability to carry out FEA analysis using ANSYS Mechanical.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Awareness of EC&I requirements for packaged equipment and pump systems.
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment, including BOMs and MRP.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and processes, such as change notes and NCRs.

Candidates with experience in similar roles, such as Mechanical Process Engineer, Mechanical Package Engineer, or Senior Mechanical Engineer, are encouraged to apply.
