Mechanical Package Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Package Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Package Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, selecting, and specifying process system equipment, including pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework, valves, and fittings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and select process system equipment to meet specific requirements
  • Prepare technical documentation, including datasheets and specifications
  • Ensure equipment meets statutory obligations and is fit for purpose
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, quality, and other engineering disciplines
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in handling packages like chemical process packages, cooling towers, water treatment packages, material handling system equipment, and compressor packages
  • Competent with industry standards, including ability to carry out calculations to BS, EN, ISO, ASME, API, etc.
  • Solid experience of design, selection, and specification of process system equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, report writing, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of material selection for industrial applications
  • Ability to evaluate parts and processes for cost, efficiency, and reliability improvements
  • Knowledge of Risk Analysis tools, such as FMEA and DFMEA
  • Understanding of safety, compliance, statutory, and regulatory requirements
  • Availability to travel internationally to site and vendors' workshops
Desirable:
  • Working experience in oil and gas industry, chemical industry, industrial gases process plants industry
  • Achieved or working toward Chartered (CEng) status with relevant industry body
  • Capable user of 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks
  • Ability to carry out FEA analysis using ANSYS Mechanical
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Awareness of EC&I requirements for packaged equipment and pump systems
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment, including BOMs and MRP
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and processes, such as change notes and NCRs
