Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Control and Instrumentation Specialist to join our team at Rolls-Royce SMR. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the design, development, and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for our nuclear power plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of control and instrumentation systems.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to translate high-level requirements into detailed specifications for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems.
  • Assess and substantiate that design specifications meet requirements.
  • Ensure compliance against international standards, including IEC 61513, IEC 61226, and IEC 61508.
  • Produce validation plans and define test plans to demonstrate that control and instrumentation system requirements have been satisfied.
  • Support the planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the lifecycle of control and instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure that optimum solutions are provided for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of equipment.
  • Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree-level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, mechatronics, physics, or computer science.
  • Minimum level of experience, training, and qualification.
  • Comprehensive C&I system design proficiency.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system.
  • Adherence to industry standards.
  • Application of advanced system methodologies.
  • Effective stakeholder communication.
  • Technical oversight proficiency.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: £57,600 - £75,600 (DOE).
  • Bonus: Performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%.
  • Benefits Allowance: £2,200 per annum.
  • Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays: 28 days holiday (plus public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover healthcare.
  • Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay.
  • £250 one-off payment for new starters for home office purchases.
