Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Director to join our team at Vistry Group PLC. As a key member of our Land and Planning department, you will be responsible for managing the acquisition of land and maintaining a good quality land bank. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of buying land in the regional area and will be able to facilitate, manage and promote the purchase of land assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the planning process within the region, ensuring that all necessary applications are submitted and processed in a timely manner.
- Monitor the land bank and aim to maintain supply as is necessary, ensuring that the company's required profit margins are met.
- Purchase land as profitably as possible, taking into account the company's financial targets and objectives.
- Monitor local plans throughout the region and manage the promotion of land within the strategic land bank.
- Report on all land asset issues and purchases at regional board meetings, preparing reports for the same.
- Undertake market research and gain market and competitor knowledge, ensuring that the company remains competitive in the market.
- Contribute effectively to the running of the region through your membership of the regional board of directors.
- Attend region Management Team/Board meetings to advise on land issues, ensuring that the team is aware of its progress towards achieving the Region's targets and influencing accordingly.
Requirements
- Degree in Estate Management, equivalent or RICS qualified.
- Demonstrable track record of buying land in the regional area.
- Proven senior experience within Land & Planning for a PLC developer.
- Good understanding of legal obligations.
- Proven list of contacts in the region.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of planning authorities.
- Strong mathematic and IT ability.
- Ability to assess and analyse information.
- In-depth understanding of budget management.
- Excellent negotiation and networking skills.
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
