Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced leader to join our team as an Academic Lead for our summer courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the academic operations for junior students aged 9-12 or 12-14.

About the Role

This is a senior member of the on-site team, reporting to the Deputy Course Director. The role involves ensuring effective communication between the head office academic team and on-site tutors, preparing classrooms, and adapting and delivering curriculum enrichment sessions based on provided plans.

Main Responsibilities

  • Tutor Liaison: Acting as the primary contact between the head office academic team and on-site tutors to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Classroom Setup: Ensuring rooms are equipped for lessons, promoting a conducive learning environment.
  • Curriculum Enrichment: Reviewing and adapting session plans to suit student needs and delivering engaging academic experiences.
  • Academic Quality: Addressing subject-related issues, providing support to tutors, and ensuring high academic standards.
  • Collaboration: Working with staff to foster a positive and enriching academic environment for students.
  • Welfare: Assisting with pastoral care, ensuring student wellbeing.
  • Residential Duties: Up to 10 hours per week as part of the residential team, including morning registrations, meal time supervision, curfew checks, and overnight phone duty.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead teams and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in managing academic responsibilities.
  • Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role).
