Main Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist in our Falls Prevention Service, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive multi-factorial falls assessment, treatment, and evidence-based rehabilitation programs to clients who have fallen. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver a client-centered, evidence-based occupational therapy intervention.

Key Duties
  • Conduct thorough falls risk assessments and develop personalized treatment plans to prevent future falls.
  • Provide education and training to clients and their families on falls prevention strategies and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
  • Supervise and support junior staff and students as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines and protocols.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent combination of degree, short courses, and experience.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) relevant to the treatment of people with physical disabilities and those at risk of falls.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Training in appraisal and clinical supervision.
  • PSI (Postural Stability Instructor) Accredited Training.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a falls team or with clients who have fallen, with a client group who are at risk of falls or sound knowledge of falls.
  • Experience of teaching and training to a wide range of people, both formal and informal.
  • Experience in a wide range of clinical areas, such as rehabilitation with older people, in-patient and/or community rehabilitation, orthopaedics.
  • Experience of report writing and production of business reports.
  • Experience of supervising and appraising junior therapists, unqualified staff, or students.
