Robert May School is seeking an experienced Technical Assistant to join its successful Design Technology department.

">Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated individual to provide technical support for our Design Technology department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our workshops, including preparation of equipment and materials, maintenance of tools and machinery, and provision of emergency technical assistance.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of equipment and materials for lessons, both for demonstration and class use
  • Maintenance of workshops to ensure a clean, safe and orderly environment
  • Tool and machine maintenance, including replacement of belts, sharpening of edges, and oiling
  • Provision of emergency technical assistance when there is either a breakdown of equipment or a serious breakdown in general servicing
  • Monitoring of equipment on loan to other departments
  • Reasonable repair and maintenance of equipment across the department
Requirements
  • Experience of working within a school environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and move around the workshop area
