Job Title: Lead Counsellor

Staffordshire Pathway Project is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Counsellor to join our team. As a Lead Counsellor, you will be responsible for coordinating, leading, and expanding our counselling service. You will work closely with our team of experienced counsellors to provide high-quality, trauma-informed counselling to adults who have experienced domestic abuse.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a recognized qualification in counselling or psychotherapy, Level 5 or above, and significant post-qualifying continuous professional development. They will also be a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and eligible for or working towards professional accreditation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead the counselling service, ensuring delivery falls within the BACP Framework and is safe, professional, and accessible.
  • Hold a small client caseload and provide high-quality counselling to adults who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • Recruit, induct, and supervise counsellors and student placements.
  • Liaise with universities and colleges to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Allocate clients to counsellors and student placements, providing on-site support as needed.
  • Assess client needs and risks, including those with complex issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, management, and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Recognized qualification in counselling or psychotherapy, Level 5 or above.
  • Significant post-qualifying continuous professional development.
  • Membership of BACP.
  • Eligible for or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle competing demands.
  • Strong team working ethos and team management skills.
