We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Functional Skills Outreach Tutor to join our team at HMP High Down. As a key member of our education department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality maths and English lessons to adults and young people in a variety of settings.
About the RoleAs an Outreach and Class-Based Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and effective lessons to meet the needs of each individual learner. Your enthusiasm for education and dedication to our learners' success will make you a valuable asset to our team.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in class and 1:1 to L1 exam level.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Assess learner needs and develop individualised learning plans.
- Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.
- Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in education.
- A teaching qualification OR subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) with a commitment to obtain the relevant outstanding Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) qualification within a specified time scale (required). However, the right candidate with appropriate experience might be considered if they are committed to completing their teaching qualification within the first year of employment.
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Track record of effective teaching in subject specialism
- Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
