The Role

This is a multifaceted role that involves all aspects of R&D and design, including developing solutions for clients, preparing proposals, conducting experimental campaigns, and providing results in written and verbal form. You'll work effectively in a team, with customers, and as a self-starter. An eagerness to learn and acquire new skills is essential.

We're particularly interested in candidates with a defence background and/or experience in laser directed energy. Whether you have a few years' experience or many more, please get in touch.

Essential Requirements
  • Practical experience and understanding of optical engineering and/or lasers
  • Excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret detailed technical information and convey to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work well within a team and interfacing with customers
  • Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Eligible to obtain UK security clearance (resident within the UK for at least the last five years)
Desirable Requirements
  • Defence industrial experience
  • Laser directed energy experience
  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Optical design experience in Zemax OpticStudio
  • Data acquisition and analytics
  • Programming experience in Python, COMSOL, LabVIEW
