About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Analysis and Business Intelligence Manager to lead our clinical directorates in information analysis and strategy. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data analysis and business intelligence, with experience in interpreting and analyzing complex data.

The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with a wide range of report writing and analysis tools, including Microsoft Power BI. They will also have a good understanding of SQL programming and experience in using BI packages.

The role will involve leading the directorates in promoting the use of Business Information, driving forward the effective use of information within the Trust through analysis of data and using predictive techniques to highlight variation and forecast trends.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing the information analysts within the team, including holding regular 1:1 meetings, ensuring personal development plans are in place, setting objectives, and appraising performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead in promoting the use of Business Information.
  2. Drive forward the effective use of information within the Trust through analysis of data and using predictive techniques to highlight variation and forecast trends.
  3. Manage the information analysts within the team.
  4. Work with the Executive team, managers, and clinicians to interpret the information available within the BI system and encourage staff to act on this information.
  5. Promote the importance of high-quality data in delivering an effective analysis.
  6. Work with Trust staff to propose enhancements to existing BI dashboards and design new tailored reports and dashboards.
  7. Raise awareness of the BI system and support training of users.

Requirements

  • A degree or other advanced recognized qualifications or five years of relevant NHS experience.
  • Post-Graduate Level Education or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced information analysis experience or equivalent minimum 5 years.
  • Experience in interpreting and analyzing complex data.
  • Advanced experience with a wide range of report writing and analysis tools.
  • Previous experience in managing RTT data assurance and validation.
  • Knowledge of NHS data flows and data definitions.
  • Understanding NHS information data flows and SUS processes.
  • Good understanding of SQL programming.
  • Experience in using BI packages, e.g. Microsoft Power BI.
  • Ability to develop data models to forecast different scenarios.
  • In-depth knowledge of information analysis techniques.
  • Influencing skills, able to initiate change across the organization supported by data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Understanding of how to use and interpret benchmarking analysis.
  • Excellent literacy and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to explain working methods and highly complex analysis to non-information staff.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with executive staff, senior staff, clinicians, and CCG staff.
  • Able to travel to other sites / commissioners.
