About the Role

The Leicestershire County Council is seeking a skilled social worker to join our Kinship Assessment Team. This part-time position is for 15 months from January 2025.

As a team member, you will be responsible for completing Initial Viability Assessments in a safe and compassionate environment. We value relationship-based practice and provide a supportive environment for our staff to excel.

Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively with children, families, and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes. Your tasks will include:

  • Completing high-quality assessments and reports
  • Developing and implementing plans to support families
  • Coordinating multi-agency work to ensure effective service delivery
  • Providing evidence-based practice and adhering to relevant policies and legislation
  • Building effective relationships with service users and colleagues

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Social Work degree or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in statutory social work, including safeguarding and direct work
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, and best practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Initiative, flexibility, and willingness to work outside of office hours when required
