Product Development Engineer

MacArthur Recruitment is seeking a skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team. As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the qualification and approval process, creating and maintaining detailed engineering documentation, and working with local suppliers to identify new components and technologies.
This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, commercial, and manufacturing teams, to ensure the successful development and launch of new products.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in CAD software, experience with product lifecycle methodologies, and a strong understanding of DFM and DFA principles. You will also have excellent communication and teamwork abilities, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Manage the qualification and approval process, create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, and work with local suppliers to identify new components and technologies.
- Product Compliance and Sustainability: Ensure products and materials comply with all relevant legislation, maintain test records and certifications for all products and materials, and identify opportunities to improve product sustainability.
- Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with product management, commercial, and manufacturing teams to ensure the successful development and launch of new products.
- Prototyping & Testing: Create prototypes and test samples, conduct tests, and validate product concepts. Refine product designs based on test data, performance metrics, and customer feedback.
- Production Support: Provide engineering support during the introduction into production phase.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement design improvements and cost-reduction initiatives without compromising product quality. Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies to drive innovation.
- Project Management: Manage engineering tasks and timelines within product development cycles.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Experience with product lifecycle methodologies.
- Strong understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in product design.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry standards would be a bonus but on-the-job training will be provided.
