Expert Microfluidics Specialist for Culture-Free Diagnostics

Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom CT19 Full time

We are seeking an experienced Microfluidics Advisor to join our team at CT19 in Oxford, a pioneering start-up revolutionizing microbiology diagnostics. With seed funding secured, we're building a platform leveraging extensive Oxford University research to deliver culture-free diagnostics within hours.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of the early stages of a groundbreaking technology that can identify bacteria and fungi from clinical samples and rapidly produce their antimicrobial profile in under 3 hours, compared to the current standard of 3 days.

As a seasoned microfluidic expert, you will collaborate with our team in Oxford, contributing to the development and validation of our innovative technology. You'll have the chance to experience the growth and evolution of our company alongside our founders' team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on Microfluidic Systems Development: Design, develop, and validate microfluidic systems, ensuring high precision and accuracy.

You will possess in-depth knowledge of various fabrication techniques, including soft lithography and rapid prototyping. Your expertise will enable us to scale from low-volume prototyping to high-volume manufacturing, transitioning devices from prototype stages to scalable production processes.

Your understanding of manufacturing challenges and quality control measures will ensure seamless high-volume production. Additionally, you'll design experiments (DoE) with proficiencies in experimental planning, data analysis, and process optimization.

  • Surface Chemistry Expertise: Modify surface chemistry to manipulate cell or bacteria capture efficiency, and contribute to cell purification and single-cell handling.

Our goal is to transform microbiology diagnostics from a culture-standard to a culture-free standard. We strive for excellence and urgency, driven by the knowledge that every day without a culture-free era results in 4,000 lives lost. Together, we aim to change this reality.
