We are seeking an exceptional Paediatric Medical Specialist to join our Community Child Health Services in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a medical professional to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist community paediatric care in East Birmingham, secondary referral clinics, and a consultation service for primary care teams and local schools. They will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including health visitors, school nurses, and other agency staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist medical assessment, investigation, and clinical management of children with neurodevelopmental problems through designated clinics in the Child Development Centre.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary assessment process and work closely with therapists, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for children and their families.
- Participate in the daytime non-CSA Child Protection rota, both directly and in a supervisory role.
- Be part of the Rapid Response Team for Sudden Unexpected Deaths (SUDIC) and provide home visits and subsequent medical input as required.
- Run fortnightly school-based clinics in term time and review children in neurodevelopmental clinics during school holidays if needed.
- Provide specialist community paediatric services within East Birmingham, secondary referral clinics, and a consultation service for primary care teams and local schools according to agreed clusters.
- Full GMC registration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including children, parents, carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaborative working and shared decision-making.
- Demonstrated expertise in paediatric medicine, particularly in the areas of neurodevelopmental disorders and child protection.
- Ability to provide teaching, supervision, and guidance to junior colleagues and medical students, and to contribute to the development of clinical leadership and service improvement initiatives.
