About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at North Somerset Council. As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for supervising building services to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for our staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage building services to meet defined standards and quality requirements.
  • Undertake designated cleaning and/or maintenance duties, including managing stock and supplies.
  • Conduct safety checks, fire drills, and assist with risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to the management of security and wellbeing of the Centre.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Previous cleaning experience is desirable.
  • Experience of fixing and maintaining equipment.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Training in COSHH and other safety training must be undertaken during initial period of employment.
  • Basic ICT skills.
  • Flexibility to work out of normal working hours.
  • Good communication skills.

This is a permanent position for 20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours as needed. You will be required to travel to other Children Centres in Weston at times to complete essential maintenance tasks.

This role is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
