Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse Educator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the development of staff, implement educational strategies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of nursing practice within our Emergency Department.



Key Responsibilities


  1. To lead on the development of staff and implement educational strategies that support the continuous improvement of nursing practice within the Emergency Department.
  2. To provide support to the senior leadership team in implementing an educational strategy that aligns with the trust's vision and values.
  3. To develop and deliver training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality patient care.
  4. To work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote best practices and improve patient outcomes.
  5. To stay up-to-date with the latest research, evidence-based practice, and national guidelines, applying this knowledge to inform educational programs and improve nursing practice.
  6. To maintain accurate records of education provided, including assessment and evaluation of program effectiveness.


Requirements


  • Possession of Adult NMC registration and relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in academic or practice education, or willingness to work towards.
  • Recognised Emergency Nursing post-graduation course and Mentorship in Practice or Practice Assessor qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and short courses, including Immediate Life Support and ED skills (plastering/suturing/venepuncture/cannulation).
  • Recent experience within an Emergency Department at Band 6 and experience of formal, informal teaching of nurses, actively supervising and assessing staff at all levels in clinical practice.
  • Significant recent experience of providing direct care to acutely unwell patients, including Non-Invasive Ventilation and tracheostomy.
  • Knowledge of current professional issues, NMC Code of Conduct, Future Nursing Standards, quality, standard setting, and audit.
  • Understanding of the NHS Long Term Plan and NHSE strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills, ability to manage services in a changing environment, work with multidisciplinary teams, and demonstrate teaching and managerial skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to facilitate groups and individuals to improve practice, good interpersonal skills, assertive but professional, self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful.


The salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including annual leave, pension scheme, and opportunities for professional development.
