Fertility Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fertility Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Cotswold Fertility Unit (CFU). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive information and advice on our treatments, offering emotional support, and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Main Responsibilities:- Assist in the daily running of the fertility clinic, coordinating treatment cycle plans.
- Provide information and advice on treatment and emotional support to patients face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Perform ultrasound scans for follicle tracking, baseline assessments, and early pregnancy assessment.
- Assess patients, plan, and implement care, and provide specialist fertility support and advice about IVF and other treatments.
- Work within the HFEA Code of Practice, NMC Code of Practice, and performance standards set for Band 5/6 Nurses within Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust.
- Participate in data collection required by the Fertility Unit for statistics required by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Act (1990), the Code of Practice (8th Edition) 2008, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of Professional Conduct.
- Analytical and judgemental skills are required for assessment of patients, planning, and implementation of care, and providing specialist fertility support and advice about IVF and other treatments.
- Promote the Fertility Unit and improve communication by liaising with other departments within the hospital and other agencies effectively and providing information/teaching sessions as appropriate.
- In consultation with the multidisciplinary team, encourage innovation, research-based practice, and evaluation of new techniques within the Cotswold Fertility Clinic.
- Liaise with fertility network support groups.
- Promote health education within the unit and take shared responsibility for ensuring an adequate supply of information leaflets for patients.
- Be responsible for own professional development and the need to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge within this specialized department, ensuring that you keep up to date with current issues.
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with NMC
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., FLAP/998/997/730)
- Degree-level qualification
- Desirable:
- Accredited ultrasound qualification relevant to the area
- Non-medical prescriber
