Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician Medicines Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing efficient medicines management services to patients in a clinical area.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and progressive pharmacy technician to contribute to Medicines Management services supporting cardiorespiratory inpatients at Glenfield Hospital. You will work effectively alone and as part of a team, contributing to service development and innovation through your initiative and enthusiasm.

The successful candidate will act as an advocate for pharmacy services and a guardian of medicines safety, ensuring excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide efficient medicines management services for patients in a clinical area, including drug history taking, facilitation of patient-owned drugs, one-stop dispensing, patient counselling, and discharge coordination.
  • To offer a range of clinical and ward services under the direction of the CMG lead Pharmacist and participate in dispensary-based duties according to service needs.
  • To act as a line manager for allocated staff, ensuring performance, attendance, training, and appraisal meet Trust Policy standards.
  • To conduct three-monthly checks of controlled drugs in clinical areas, adhering to the Leicestershire Medicines Code.
  • To ensure medicines, including Controlled Drugs, returned to pharmacy from wards are either returned to stock or disposed of in accordance with current procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • To coordinate medicines supply activities at ward level and provide effective communication and coordination with central dispensaries.

  • To maintain up-to-date handover sheets for effective communication with other pharmacy staff.

Salary Range: £28,000 - £38,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
