Job Overview

We are seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to join our team at Leonardo. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on a leadership role in ensuring the quality of our products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify programme and project risks, threats, and opportunities, and develop effective strategies to mitigate them.
  • Maintain and deliver Project Assurance Plans, defining project assurance activities aligned to risk, opportunity, and improvement within the programme and associated operational framework.
  • Manage programme and project risks, threats, and opportunities to reduce their impact on the programme and project.
  • Take leadership on instances of non-conformance and failure, ensuring situations are managed collectively to closure through root cause identification and corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance to the assurance team to meet programme and IPT objectives.
  • Contribute to the assurance function's improvement plans across all phases of the programme, product, and project lifecycle.
  • Apply interpersonal skills to mentor and coach colleagues to grow quality excellence within the CS3 Quality Team and IPT.
  • Provide reports and supporting data to the Project Assurance Manager, Quality Manager, and Project Managers as required.
  • Deputise for the Quality Team Leader and Project Assurance Manager as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or Defence Electronics, with significant experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification, and First Article Inspection.
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving skills to harvest complex data into practical solutions that support business goals.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Experience working with numerous stakeholders and high-functioning quality teams.
  • Eligibility for full security clearance is essential.
