Mechanical Engineer for Continuous Improvement

STEM Recruitment Solutions is pleased to collaborate with a prominent manufacturing client in Edinburgh to fill a Graduate Mechanical Production Engineer position.

The primary role of this position is to provide technical support to production operations, contributing to ongoing improvement, new product introduction, and process engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will be able to implement Lean Manufacturing principles and actively participate in cost-efficiency projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prioritize Health and Safety protocols for production floor personnel.
  2. ID and implement health and safety enhancements in manufacturing processes.
  3. Develop and update risk assessments for manufacturing activities.
  4. Collaborate with the quality department to enhance SOP documentation.
  5. Create job-specific training plans for new hires.
  6. Maintain and update manufacturing documentation, including SOPs and specifications.
  7. Ensure high-quality standards in manufacturing processes.
  8. Contribute to design, layout, and tooling of production lines.
  9. Participate in new product introduction projects.
  10. Contribute to cost reduction and process efficiency projects.

Estimated Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum.

Requirements:

  1. HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Experience working in a Production or FMCG environment.
  3. Proficiency with CAD (Solidworks or AutoCAD) is desirable.
  4. Familiarity with Health and Safety systems (IOSH certification desirable).
  5. Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
