Estimated Salary: £12.00 - £15.00 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Security Professional to join our team at Belfast City Airport. As a Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and crew. Your primary responsibilities will include controlling access to restricted areas, conducting staff ID and boarding card checks, preparing passengers and staff for security screening, and conducting physical searches of individuals and articles.

Key Duties:

  1. To control access to restricted areas of the airport, ensuring that only authorized personnel gain entry.
  2. To conduct thorough staff ID and boarding card checks, verifying the identities of individuals before allowing them to enter secure areas.
  3. To prepare passengers and staff for security screening, explaining procedures and providing necessary guidance to ensure a smooth process.
  4. To conduct regular physical searches of individuals and articles, using x-ray equipment to inspect items entering restricted areas.
  5. To respond promptly and effectively to any on-site incidents, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  6. To provide escort duties when required, accompanying individuals or groups through secure areas.
  7. To perform regular patrols in assigned areas, maintaining awareness of potential security risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
  8. To maintain compliance with relevant Civil Aviation Authority regulations, understanding local procedures and working practices.
  9. To participate in required Security Training, enhancing your skills and knowledge to meet CAA standards.
  10. To achieve and maintain a high level of competence, as measured through performance assessments and evaluations.
  11. To contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, actively engaging in business success and self-development opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. A positive attitude with a genuine desire to create a pleasant experience for all airport visitors.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  3. Strong observational skills and attention to detail, enabling you to identify potential security risks and take proactive measures.
  4. The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations, adhering to strict security protocols and procedures.
  5. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, performing routine security tasks with ease.
  6. Proof of National Insurance Number and current address.
  7. Successful candidates will be required to complete a basic criminal record check following interview, in line with CAA requirements.
