We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our Insurance Accounting function within the Corporate Reporting team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of underlying data, liaising with both external and internal stakeholders to manage expectations and drive process excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Review and Challenge Underwriting Results: Collaborate with Finance Business Partners to review and challenge the Syndicate underwriting results, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reserve Review and Analysis: Work closely with the Actuarial Department to review and analyze reserves, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Commentary and Analysis: Produce commentary for senior management on Syndicate results, reviewing late adjustments, bridging analysis, group balance sheet analytics, and COB reviews on a quarterly basis.
- Annual Reporting and Compliance: Oversee and provide data for the annual Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO), UK Tax, and US Level II returns.
- Quarterly Returns and Reporting: Assist in producing the Lloyd's QMA and QMB quarterly returns.
- Monthly and Quarterly Close Process: Assist in the monthly and quarterly close process, including preparation and posting of underwriting and non-underwriting journals for submission to senior management and Group.
- Statutory Books and Records: Ensure the statutory books and records are properly maintained in accordance with the company's Accounting policies and market best practice.
- Ad Hoc Tasks and Projects: Assist on ad hoc tasks in the wider reporting team, including Statutory Accounts, review of other company results, and submission.
- Qualified Accountant: ACCA or equivalent qualification.
- Complex Financial Services Experience: Significant experience of working in a complex financial services environment.
- Recent or Current Accounting Experience: Recent or current experience of working as an Accountant.
- Financial Accounting Background: Strong financial accounting background with experience of reviewing Insurance Underwriting results preferable.
- Technical Skills: Experienced MS Excel user (pivots, if statements, lookups, and experience of working with large amounts of data) and other MS Office applications.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Desirable Experience: Working for a Syndicate or Company Insurance Accounting team would be desirable.
