About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Samuel Knight Energy as a Grid and Electrical Engineer, working on our BESS projects.

As a key member of our site teams, you will be responsible for delivering all Electrical work packages, focusing on the 120MW BESS at the site in Newport.

You will have extensive experience in grid-connecting renewable energy projects and a proven track record of managing complex technical interfaces between contracts.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Safety First: Ensure all works are designed and delivered safely, adhering to industry standards.">
  • Work Package Manager: Manage all grid connection and HV works needed to connect our BESS projects to the grid at the site in Newport.">
  • Grid Compliance: Lead the grid compliance UDFS process to achieve necessary approvals in line with the project programme.">
  • Electrical Interfaces: Manage all electrical (132kV to 33kV to LV) and control system interfaces between National Grid, Balance of Plant contractor, and BESS supply contract.">
  • Technical Interfaces: Coordinate technical and control interfaces between the project and Route to Market provider, ensuring metering arrangements are in place for commercial operations.">
  • Design Review: Conduct thorough review of project electrical engineering designs and deliverables.">
  • Technical Query Process: Establish efficient technical query processes during detailed design and construction.">
  • Installation Supervision: Supervise installation works, tests, and commissioning, ensuring compliance before project handover.">
  • Risk Assessment: Assist in preparing and reviewing electrical aspects of site-specific health and safety plans and risk assessments.">
  • Project Programme: Contribute to the development of electrical workstreams impacting the Project Programme.">
  • BESS Portfolio: Assist with electrical design and grid connection application work for SKI's BESS portfolio.">
  • Tender Evaluation: Support technical due diligence pre-financial close.">
  • Risk Management: Identify, document, and manage risks and opportunities effectively.">

Salary Range: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
