At NOV Inc, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a key member of our assembly line, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate designated machines safely and competently, maintaining high standards of HSE and housekeeping.
  • Complete schedules, sequences, and assignments for assembly line activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Carry out work instructions as given by Cell Leader, work specifications, and equipment operation, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor and control materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or faults, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Maintain assembly line performance standards by monitoring gauges, dials, and other indicators, making adjustments as required.
  • Check work via the use of gauges, visuals, and measuring tools, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain an organized and visual workspace, adhering to 5S principles.
  • Generate and implement improvement ideas, encouraging idea generation among team members and escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Be familiar with and use proactive root cause problem-solving techniques, such as Fishbone diagrams.
  • Evaluate current production estimates and outputs, identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or HNC in a relevant subject (essential).
  • Higher education in a relevant subject (desirable).
  • Working knowledge within an assembly and manufacturing environment, including the preparation of components (essential).
  • Background in a mechanical-based profession (desirable).
  • Computer literacy, including good command of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook (essential).
  • Ability to operate basic hand and power tools (essential).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential).
  • Forklift and overhead crane certificates (desirable).
