Job Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Cheltenham Children in Care team as a Child Welfare Specialist. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of children in our care. You will work closely with families, foster carers, and other stakeholders to provide support and guidance, empowering children to thrive in their lives.

Salary & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of £36,648-£44,428 per annum, along with a welcome payment of £4,000, annual retention payment of £2,000, and up to £8,000 relocation package. Additionally, you will receive flexible working opportunities, 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years continuous service, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct support and guidance to children in our care, including those with plans for adoption, special guardianship, long-term fostering, or returning home to family.
  • Working collaboratively with families, foster carers, and other professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to case reviews and assessments.
  • Promoting the needs and voices of children within our care, advocating on their behalf where necessary.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience as a frontline social worker, preferably in a children's services setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, families, and other stakeholders.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to drive.
  • DBS clearance.
