Job Opportunity: Test and Commissioning Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Test and Commissioning Engineer to join our team at Critical Maritime Systems & Support Limited in Portsmouth. As a key member of our CMS2 team, you will be responsible for providing testing and commissioning services for our air purification equipment to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, with experience in testing and commissioning complex process equipment. You will be responsible for setting up, configuring, and testing high-pressure vessels under PED compliance, as well as electrical testing and fault finding.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure in a challenging environment. You will be required to travel to various sites across the country to support the UK Nuclear Program and occasionally abroad to support overseas customers.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Set up, configure, and test complex process equipment.
  2. Pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing of high- and low-pressure vessels under PED compliance.
  3. Electrical testing – Low & High Voltage (3 phase) circuits, Insulation Resistance & Earth Bond Testing, working with oscilloscopes to capture analogue and digital signals.
  4. Fault finding, diagnosis, and problem-solving of electro-mechanical systems.
  5. Seek to develop and increase efficiency of test methodology including prototyping.
  6. Maintain issues log for lessons learned and to support continuous improvement.
  7. Travel to various sites across the country to support the UK Nuclear Program (CASD).
  8. Occasional travel abroad to support overseas customers.
  9. Adherence to 5S Practice and compliance to ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
About You

To be considered for this role, you should:

  1. Hold an NVQ/HNC or higher qualification in engineering or an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering field (BEng, MEng, HND etc...).
  2. Have previous test and commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry preferred (e.g., process engineering).
  3. Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety, environment, and quality.
  4. Possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as process engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  5. Have good hands-on electrical/mechanical skills.
  6. Work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure in a challenging environment.
  7. Exhibit excellent attention to detail.
  8. Be flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work well on your own initiative.
  9. Be willing to travel occasionally, sometimes with short notice.
