Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our core mental health team to cover a period of maternity leave. We welcome applications from Band 5 Occupational Therapists with an interest in career progression.

The core team provides assessment and interventions for children and young people with complex, severe, and persistent emotional wellbeing and mental health problems, providing care as described in NICE guidance. As a specialist mental health team, we support young people with moderate, severe, and enduring mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.

The service is going through an exciting period of transformation, and we need skilled individuals to be a valued member of the journey with us.

There will be scope for creativity in this team to develop evidence-based interventions, think systemically, and work collaboratively with children, young people, and families, informed by the local Transformation Plan, Future in Mind, and the THRIVE framework.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Assess children's individual care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care to meet their mental health needs and improve quality of life through psychosocial interventions, in line with NICE guidance.
  • Complete and contribute robust risk assessments and, where appropriate, risk management plans, delivering and promoting positive risk-taking to improve quality of life and maximise occupational performance/independence.
  • Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on a child's conditions.
  • Contribute to and evaluate group programmes for children and young people within the Core Mental Health team.
  • Engage in and provide supervision for students and identified colleagues within the team.
