Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective planning, management, and coordination of steel work structure construction and associated subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining a commitment to safety and a collaborative approach to meet the construction programme, incentive target, and quality and sustainability standards. Key to this role is ensuring the correct resourcing and incentivisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide the delivery team with information for short form and long form reports outlining the progress of the Superstructure and Concourse, actual cost, forecast, and highlighting any problems and issues for resolution.
- Coordinate between the construction, design, procurement, and commercial departments to ensure the superstructure sub-contracts are awarded and work started in accordance with the schedule of works.
- Create a high-performing superstructure team through setting clear SMART targets via the team plan and complying with the performance management process for all team members.
- Establish and maintain a collaborative environment throughout the team, stakeholders, and the supply chain, facilitating effective communications between the Employer's representatives.
- Ensure a clear understanding of levels of authority to receive instructions from the client Construction Manager or Supervisor and receipt of other contractual communication within the team and supply chain.
- Manage the performance management process and ensure appropriate training is planned and delivered.
- Promote and deliver works in accordance with HS2 standards and without defects, ensuring right first-time workmanship and undertaking lessons learnt reviews to promote continuous improvement.

Technical Competencies

- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal, and the ability to report at project level.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996, Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015, and Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
- Commercial acumen with experience of project controls and delivery to budget.
- NEC contract experience.
- Strong organisation and people management/team building skills.

Qualifications, Certifications & Experience

- Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline or a lower educational level (HNC or HND) with a relevant level of experience.
- Membership of an appropriate Professional body or hold an equivalent professional status.
- Well-developed IT skills, including a working knowledge of BIM, AutoCad, and collaborative platforms.
- Hold a CSCS Card and have undertaken the appropriate Safety for Senior Managers training.
- Proven track record of delivering projects to time and budget, together with an exemplary safety, quality, and sustainability record.
- Relevant experience of managing complex station/transport interchange infrastructure build and employment in mid-management roles on projects of similar scope and scale within the construction industry.
- Experience of managing consents, utility suppliers, and stakeholders.
