We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Ecologist to join our team as Ecology Team Lead and Ecological Consultant. The role is wide-ranging, with a mix of office-based and field-based assignments.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years' commercial experience in ecology and a degree-level qualification in a relevant subject. They will be required to lead the ecology team, mentor team members, and develop business opportunities. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in technical areas such as Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Protected Species Survey Licenses, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to provide ecological advice and guidance
  • Lead and mentor the ecology team to ensure high-quality work
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to grow the ecology department
  • Conduct Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and Protected Species Surveys
  • Produce EIA reports and other environmental documentation
Requirements
  • BSc or MSc degree in ecology or a related field
  • At least 5 years' commercial experience in ecology
  • Protected Species Survey Licenses (bats, great crested newts, etc.)
  • EIA and environmental impact assessment experience
  • Leadership and management skills
