Brief Description

This role provides comprehensive Track asset management and engineering support services to the Wessex Head of Asset (Track) and delivery units.

About the Role
  1. Provide systems engineering input to determine appropriate maintenance regimes and activity volumes for Track assets.
  2. Offer comprehensive system engineering support across the Track asset base throughout the route and across delivery units as needed.
  3. Deliver technical briefings associated with Track systems engineering to engineers in delivery units.
  4. Review and make recommendations on derogation and non-compliance applications related to Track systems engineering standards.
  5. Monitor the progression of potential improvements to Track systems from delivery units.
  6. Conduct asset condition inspections to inform the Track asset condition database and renewals work bank.
  7. Provide advice and guidance to delivery units and other asset engineers in producing prioritized business-focused Track systems renewal proposals.
  8. Participate in and lead Track engineering activities in support assurance processes.
  9. Monitor the reliability and performance of Track systems-related assets across the route.
  10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of route asset management plans.
  11. Assist in reviewing and accepting engineering project designs as needed.
Key Skills and Qualifications

Essential
  • Incorporated Engineer
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions
  • Substantial Track engineering experience
  • A detailed understanding of maintaining Track assets
  • A sound knowledge of relevant technical, safety, and performance standards
  • Holds relevant professional licenses and technical qualifications or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
  • Holds a valid UK driving license or is eligible and willing to obtain
Desirable
  • Chartered engineer
  • Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
  • Experience in undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment
Salary and Benefits
