Job Title: Mechanical Strategy Engineer

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Strategy Engineer for its Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) site in Kent.

The successful candidate will come with a salary up to £68,000 + private medical + benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to achieve measured station performance.
  • Carry out the assessment of critical plant and use reliability centred maintenance techniques to review and optimise all planned and preventive maintenance activities on the plant area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement plan, conducting root cause analysis where required.
  • Develop medium- and long-term improvement and investment strategies, including plant outage strategy, projecting major parts replacements.
  • Manage the site's Asset Risk database to reflect significant changes.
  • Mentor other strategy engineers within the team and provide technical support to the mechanical delivery team, who carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks on site.
  • Design and deliver technically complex projects, with delegated management of outage and project work, ensuring it is completed within budget and quality standards.
  • Be the lead reviewer for plant modification, coordinating technical design reviews and approval for implementation.
  • Work with operations, delivery, and contracting teams to ensure maintenance strategy and running regime are optimised.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a HNC, or preferably HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a maintenance environment in a heavy industrial environment (power station, refinery, petrochemical, etc).
  • A broad understanding of power station operations, specifically Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT).
  • Ideally hold an IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
Personal Skills:
  • Can work well in a team or individually.
  • Has planning and organisational skills, to prioritise jobs and manage resources.
Salary and Benefits:

Starting Salary of up to £68,000 with a benefits package including private medical insurance and 12% pension contributions. External training for staff that includes funding for further qualifications (HND, degree, etc). Opportunity to join a CCGT Power Station.
