Specification Technologist - Maternity Cover 12-month FTC
Yorkshire Baker is seeking a skilled Specification Technologist to cover maternity leave on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our Technical Team, you will be responsible for ensuring customer specifications are completed in accordance with codes of practice.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in customer specifications, particularly in the food or retail industry. You will work closely with customers and governing bodies to ensure all legal aspects of specifications are met.
Main duties include:
- Assisting the Technical Services Manager in preparing draft and finished product specifications/pack on customer-chosen specification management systems.
- Conducting process reviews on all specifications and finished product specs to ensure compliance and making necessary amendments.
- Writing, updating, and maintaining specifications and related systems for all customers, ensuring up-to-date information is delivered on time.
- Ensuring packaging compliance through sample intake deliveries and following procedures for packaging and coding control.
- Ensuring recipes, artwork, and food labeling are legally compliant and meet customer requirements.
- Accountable for annual shelf life and nutritional testing, reporting any anomalies.
- Creating labels for products, ensuring they are legally compliant and satisfactory for customers.
Candidate requirements:
- Proven experience in customer specifications within food or retail.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proven food or retail customer experience, ideally with Marks & Spencer.
- Experience with retailer codes of practice/BRC standard.
- Knowledge of legal requirements relating to food packaging and labeling.
- Ability to multitask and work at pace.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and ability to work as part of a team.
- Computer literacy with good numerical skills.
