At the State Government of Victoria, Australia, we are committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services to our community. As an Emergency Response Physician - Stroke Specialist, you will play a vital role in saving lives and improving outcomes for patients with acute stroke.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced medical professionals for a 12-month fixed-term part-time position with opportunities for overnight and weekend shifts as part of a 24/7 roster. The Victorian Stroke Telemedicine service provides treatment advice and management for patients who present to participating hospitals with suspected stroke symptoms throughout Victoria and Tasmania.

  • You will provide expert advice to clinicians in Emergency Departments regarding diagnosis and management of patients with suspected acute stroke, including review of brain imaging and direct communication with patients and clinicians whenever possible.
  • You will develop strong partnerships by building trust and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will work cooperatively in a cross-functional team, empowering others through coaching, developing skills, knowledge, and providing constructive feedback.

Shift Types and Hours

The successful candidate will be required to work various shift types and hours, including:

Weekday Sessional Shifts

* 2 x 5 hour shifts: 0800-1300 / 1300-1800* 1 x 6 hour shift: 0800-1600

Weekday On-Call Shifts

* 8 hour shifts: 2400-0800

Weekends/Public Holiday Sessional Shifts

* 2 x 8 hour shifts: 0800-1600 / 1600-2400

Weekends/Public Holiday On-Call Shifts

* 1 x 8 hour shift: 2400-0800

About You

To be considered for this role, you must be a legally qualified medical practitioner registered with AHPRA and have current professional medical indemnity insurance for clinical practice in Australia. Your strategic thinking and decision-making skills, along with your ability to identify and implement process improvements, will be valuable assets in this position.
