Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive adult audiology services, including diagnostic assessment, speech testing, and rehabilitation.

They will also be expected to provide leadership to junior staff, through regular one-to-one meetings and clinical supervision.

Additionally, the post holder will take an active role in clinical audit, research, and clinical governance of the Audiology service.

They will be responsible for the smooth running of the adult service for a specified area and will support other team members and students.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the underlying principles of audiology and be able to perform complex tests, including substantial years of experience in the field.

They will also be able to programme, fit, evaluate, and maintain a range of NHS hearing aids, including CROS aids, and provide appropriate management and counselling to patients and carers.

The post holder will be expected to work without direct supervision for audiometry, tympanometry with reflexes, speech audiometry, and other diagnostic tests as indicated.

They will also be responsible for delivering student training and will be a mentor to students and junior staff.

Furthermore, the post holder will be responsible for department stock management and supporting the Health & Safety compliance for the department.

Person Specification
  • BSc (Hon) in Audiology (or be in final year of BSc) OR BAAT Parts I and II and BTEC in MPPM
  • State registration with RCCP
Key Skills
  • Able to use all Audiology equipment and associated software to ensure aids are fitted appropriately and patient outcomes are positive
  • Listening and counselling skills to establish appropriate individual management plan
  • Clear oral communication enabling patient and carers to be fully conversant with treatment plan
  • Good manual dexterity and fine manipulation skills
  • Able to prioritise own workload, work calmly and methodically under heavy workload
