Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting & Reporting Expert to join our team at Aviva. As a key member of our financial advisory team, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall objectives of our technical advisory and policy centre of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to provide financial and business advice, supporting the development of financial and business decisions.
  • Advise on the application of group accounting policy and key judgements in determining how complex transactions are reported externally.
  • Develop and implement policies and methodologies to support current and future sustainability reporting requirements, including ISSB standards, UK government greening finance initiatives, climate transition planning, and TCFD disclosures.
  • Form judgements on complex accounting matters of high commercial importance to the Group and take them through appropriate governance.
  • Influence the development of Sustainability, climate, and other non-financial reporting policies.
  • Identify senior stakeholders and develop engagement plans needed to resolve complex judgements.
  • Support the TAP team objectives and keep the Group safe through high-quality, insightful, fair, and balanced financial reporting.
  • Provide accounting advisory support on a range of transactions, projects, and queries, including sustainability topics.
  • Engage with external audit on technical accounting matters.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the business to debate issues and agree a recommended approach.

Requirements:

  • Preparation of technical accounting papers to the Group and Market Financial Reporting Committee supporting quarterly reporting cycles, ad hoc transactions, and technical accounting issues.
  • Continuous management of effective planning to facilitate key deliverables to various timescales.
  • Development of subject matter expert skills with opportunities to develop task manager skills.
  • Contribution to updates to Group IFRS accounting policy and the Group Reporting Manuals.
  • Accounting qualification required (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) and an investment qualification would be an advantage (IOC, CFA or equivalent).
