About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, ensuring they engage with and benefit from their tailored curriculum.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans in accordance with each student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where students feel supported and valued.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to monitor student progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills, promoting independence, confidence, and resilience.
  • Address behavioral challenges with empathy and understanding, helping students develop appropriate social and emotional skills.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external professionals to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in an alternative provision or SEN setting.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges faced by students who have struggled in mainstream schools.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable).
