Job Title: Boiler Plant Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Boiler Plant Manager to join our team at Lush. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our industrial steam boilers at our Witney Road and Cowley Road buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Boiler Operations: Ensure the steam plant operates efficiently and effectively by monitoring energy and steam flow readings to optimize system performance.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including PSSR, PUWER, HSE, and CEA standards. Complete risk assessments and manage risk mitigation actions promptly.
  • Team Management: Ensure sufficient, trained staff are available for all shifts in steam-using departments. Supervise boiler operators, ensuring they receive relevant training and certification.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the maintenance of the boiler plant, liaising with the Repairs & Maintenance team and external contractors. Manage the Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) and coordinate with inspectors to keep it up to date.
  • Operator Competencies: Define and maintain operator competencies to ensure safety and efficiency. Operate and adjust industrial steam boilers within the manufacturing plant.
  • Safety and Quality: Adhere to safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Monitor high-integrity controls, gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure optimal and safe boiler operations.
  • Reporting and Communication: Record daily operational logs and report any irregularities to the Maintenance team and Management. Respond promptly to emergencies or operational issues involving the boiler.
  • Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with the Maintenance team and Production management to ensure smooth boiler plant operations. Assess risks associated with boiler operations and implement additional measures when necessary to maintain acceptable risk levels.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Diploma in Boiler Plant Operation Management (DipBOM) or a similar qualification.
  • Experience: Extensive, hands-on experience and expertise with shell-type steam boilers. Proven experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Skills: Proactive, highly motivated, and eager to take initiative. Strong ability to learn and develop new skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage daily tasks independently and prioritize workload effectively.
