The Nursing Associate will work in a collaborative environment to provide holistic, person-centred care and support for patients of all ages, across the lifespan and in various settings. They will work independently to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, undertaking aspects delegated by registered nurses and allied health professionals.
The Nursing Associate will have a broad knowledge base across the four pillars of nursing practice: Clinical Practice, Facilitating Learning, Leadership, and Research/Audit awareness. They will be accountable, equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours, and work to a nationally recognised code of conduct defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Key Duties- Adhere to Trust policy for safekeeping of patients' personal possessions.
- Undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment as directed by the Plastic Trauma Coordinator.
- Assist with ordering, unpacking, and checking of stores as required.
- Contribute to the cost-effective and efficient utilisation of hospital supplies and resources.
- Clean patient trolleys, furniture, and equipment after patient discharge, adhering to hospital policies.
- Answer telephones correctly and take messages or refer to the Plastic Trauma Coordinators/Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
- Listen to impromptu complaints and refer to the appropriate person.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of SPEAC clinic rooms and Minor Operating Room.
- Participate in annual performance reviews.
- Understand the importance of fire precautions and be aware of hospital policies regarding emergency procedures.
- Be aware of the correct procedure in the event of a respiratory/cardiac arrest and assist as instructed by a registered nurse following training.
- Be aware of responsibility regarding the protection of vulnerable children and adults, gaining competence in Safeguarding Level 2 Training.
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
- GCSE Grade A-C/Level 4-9 in Maths & English or skills functional level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
- Significant experience working within a healthcare environment.
- Good knowledge of the audit process.
- Collaborate with multi-professional service users, internal & external at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to motivate self and work with all levels of staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing service needs.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to act as an effective role model.
