Job Description:

Priory Hospital Norwich is a 34-bedded acute mental health hospital aiming to provide high-standard care and deliver great outcomes for patients. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will support our patients by efficiently administering the Mental Health Act (MHA) within your area of responsibility.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the efficient administration of the MHA, prioritizing workload to meet changing demands.
  • Ensure compliance with the MHA 1983, amendments to the act, and the revised MHA Code of Practice.
  • Support and advise staff, service users, and relatives on the MHA 1983 and associated procedures.
  • Create and maintain individual legal files for service users subject to the Act, safeguarding confidential information and statutory documentation.
  • Maintain accurate data related to the use of the Act for national and local reporting processes.
  • Keep up-to-date with new legislation and implement new policies and procedures as required.
  • Provide MHA training for the hospital as part of the division's mandatory training.
  • Support other MHA administrators and provide cover when required.

Requirements:

  • Compliance with the MHA 1983 and associated procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data.
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining individual legal files.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage changing demands.
