Job Description

Freight Personnel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager - Freight and Logistics to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving the development and innovation of our 3PL product and managing third-party logistics service providers to enhance relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-Day Operations: Manage the day-to-day running of our Basildon warehouse and freight office, ensuring policies and procedures are followed in accordance with company mandates and external certifications.
  • Branch Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of a high-performing, customer-focused branch facility, implementing and managing strategic and operational plans to meet short and long-term objectives and goals.
  • Employee Management: Ensure employees are trained, measured, and managed in the execution of company operational processes and standards, negotiate and monitor supplier contracts as necessary, and prepare timely, accurate management information and reporting as required.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as a client liaison and escalation point for problems, ensuring service levels are maintained and supporting the teams in their daily duties.
  • Performance Management: Administer performance reviews, address failures and analyze root cause, implement corrective actions to avoid repetition of failures, and deal with non-standard issues as they arise.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated track record in leading/managing operations teams, with strong leadership, financial analysis, negotiation, and customer satisfaction skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge and experience of all transport modes (Air, Ocean, and Road), 3PL and warehousing activities, Customs formalities, and AEO.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and presentation skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively resolve customer complaints and problems and restore or maintain business.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized with an excellent attention to detail, personable, and able to liaise with many individuals, internally and externally.
Package and Benefits
  • Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum.
  • Annual Leave: 31 days, increasing by 1 day per year after 3 years' service, up to a further 5 days.
