Role Overview

Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill a maternity leave cover position as a Food Safety Manager at Vertical Advantage Limited, our Manchester-based Food FMCG business.

This role is critical due to its specialized requirements and direct management responsibilities, which cannot be absorbed by the existing team.

As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing HACCP, TACCP, Food Defence, Quality Systems, and document control processes.

In addition, they will drive initiatives to foster a positive product Quality & Safety Culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage HACCP, TACCP, Food Defence, Quality Systems, and document control processes.
  • Drive initiatives to foster a positive product Quality & Safety Culture.
  • Provide internal training on Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage Supplier Approval and Monitoring processes.
  • Review UK private label customer COPs and communicate key information to suppliers.
  • Attend customer site visits and audits, including occasional international travel.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate calibre or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Food Safety/Technical role in a factory environment.
  • Proven ability to carry out risk assessments.

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, pension scheme, and opportunities for career growth and development.
