Audit Quality Role at BDO UK

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audit Quality Specialist to join our Practice Review Team in the Audit Quality Directorate (AQD). This is an exciting opportunity to shape the role and the expanding team, helping to deliver accurate and transparent reporting to all relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal quality monitoring - reviewing completed AQR in-scope and Not-AQR in-scope audits, assessing the quality of audit work and its compliance with auditing standards and the firm's internal policies and procedures.
  • Regulator review support - providing support to audit teams undergoing an external Regulator review (principally AQR) to help them navigate the requirements.
  • Collating examples of audit quality findings and good practice to share with the audit stream.
  • Assisting with audit quality communications, including presenting on calls and writing newsletter articles.
  • Taking part in root cause analysis investigations to help identify the cause of why findings arise.
  • Undertaking ad hoc audit quality projects, including thematic reviews, reviewing audit files where there has been a risk report and supporting the BDO International audit quality programme to drive audit quality improvements across the BDO International network.

Requirements:

  • ACA or similar professional accountancy qualification.
  • Consider themselves an expert with regards to the UK auditing standards.
  • Good knowledge of IFRS 15 and auditing long-term contracts is preferable.
  • Awareness of the regulatory requirements in Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man or Ireland is useful but not essential.
