Sports Coach Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and energetic sports coach to work with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a SEMH Specialist School in Preston.

As a Sports Coach, you will deliver engaging sports sessions, encourage students to develop physical skills and confidence, and support students with SEMH needs to participate in activities that promote teamwork and positive social interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inclusive sports sessions that cater to a variety of abilities and needs.
  • Encourage students to develop physical skills, confidence, and self-esteem through sport.
  • Support students with SEMH needs to participate in activities that promote teamwork and positive social interactions.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Work alongside teachers and support staff to integrate sports and physical education into the wider school curriculum.
  • Organise school sports events and activities.

Requirements:

  • A relevant coaching qualification (e.g., Level 2 or above) in one or more sports.
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably within an SEMH or SEN setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A passion for promoting physical activity and its benefits for mental and emotional well-being.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
