Job Description: Patient Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Patient Safety Specialist to join our team at the University of Leeds. The successful candidate will contribute to an NHS Blood and Transplant funded project focused on haemovigilance, ensuring the safety of blood transfusion processes.

The role will involve working closely with the Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) program and international research collaborators to develop guidance for future haemovigilance systems. This will require synthesizing expert subject-matter knowledge, systematic review of research evidence, and collaborative work with existing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To collaborate with the NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaboration at the University of Leeds and the NIHR Blood and Transfusion Research Unit in Data Driven Transfusion Practice at the University of Oxford to maximise learning from adverse event monitoring.
  • To implement recommendations from haemovigilance to enhance blood safety.
